About Us

Signbiz was created in a small garage in Christchurch in March 2007. Jim Coe & Paul Reeves carpooled to-and-from work (in their shared van) to get things off the ground for six months, but the business didn’t stay small for long. As clients recognised their creativity and skill at combining the new era of digital print with traditional sign-writing methods, they realised that Signbiz could offer a diverse range of signage products, covering all aspects of the brand and fabricated 100% in house.

Brand Protection

The business grew to meet the expanding client base and fulfil local & national projects. Consequently, it became apparent that Signbiz needed to offer the same product, quality, service and price nationally that they had provided so expertly at the local level. In addition, clients required the option to liaise with one person and be guaranteed the same result throughout the country, without any risk to their brand. As a result, the search for reliable partnerships in the major centres in New Zealand began.

Signbiz Limited Group

At the outset, it was very apparent that not all signage companies are created equal. Signbiz initially struggled with various signage providers at the national level to offer the brand protection, specific timeframes and high standards that our customers deserved. Signbiz needed to control a national roll-out independently, with full respect to the customer. For that reason, we created the Signbiz Limited Group.

Truly National Reach

Since then, Signbiz has grown into the National company we are today, boasting nine offices and our own production houses throughout New Zealand. We employ over 135 staff members in the group, operating and communicating as one cohesive team while sharing expertise, resources and experience.
Over the years, we have welcomed regional managers & shareholders, meaning that each person you deal with at the management level has the same invested interest as Jim and Paul had initially; to deliver a quality job and have satisfied clients. So, for example, Shayne in Auckland and Colin in Wellington have a long and rich history in signage, bringing great skill and best-practice knowledge to the table.

Biz Expansion

On February 1 2021, the Biz family grew once more. This time including the solid teams from Hawkes Bay Signs, Central Otago Signs and Concept Signs. With Marty Bartlett, Alana Grace and Fran Macdonald at the helm of the newly created ‘Signbiz Hawke’s Bay’, ‘Signbiz Hutt Valley’ and ‘Signbiz Southern Lakes’, respectively, we attained our TRULY NATIONAL Status. An additional Branch in Alexandra has also recently opened for extra support in the South.

Countrywide Delivery

When it comes to projects outside these (vast) main areas, and depending on client wishes, we take the “We have wheels and will travel” approach. We have used our ten years of experience to build up a network of trusted, like-minded installers located countrywide for any other assignments.

The experiences gained from our initial humble business start-up have enabled Signbiz to relate to new, small businesses and their growth needs in terms of marketing strategies and developing tailored, bespoke signage.

Social Responsibility

APPRENTICESHIPS

To combat the skills shortage in New Zealand, Signbiz takes a proactive approach to training and upskilling our staff.

By recruiting and training apprentices, we develop young adults in a way that meets our industry requirements, thereby investing in the future of our staff and the larger community as a whole.

Hands-on training gives students a real chance to put their skills into practice and helps them gain confidence in a working environment.

We are very proud of our previous Apprentice, Toby Marsh, who took home the GOLD medal for Apprentice of the Year 2019 at the New Zealand Sign and Display Awards.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

As a growing company, we endeavour to play an active role in our community. Signbiz supports worthy causes and gets involved in numerous charity campaigns.

We are extremely proud of our latest contribution, a full vehicle wrap for 298 Youth Health and Mental Health Awareness Week 2022

Committed To Climate

In 2022 Signbiz signed up with ‘Trees That Count’ as a funder.  We gifted native trees and shrubs to our amazing clients which will be planted in areas throughout the country in the coming months, including  Te Mata Park in Hawke’s Bay, which we are proud to sponsor.

Our 2022 planting is expected to remove 146.31 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere after 50 years, that’s pretty awesome!

Every tree planted or funded adds to the national count. Check out who is leading the way to a greener New Zealand on their Leaderboard where we are currently in 151st place.

Why not head over to their site and join us in helping to plant millions more throughout New Zealand?

Trees have been allocated and Planted.
