Flags & Pull Up Banners

Design Area

The design area you have to work with for vertical banners and branded flags is long and thin. For this reason, it is best practice to position your logo and most crucial information at the top of your sign, then work your way down, as this is the natural path that your viewers’ eye will take.

Our flags can also be as tall as 5.2m, and viewing distance will need to be taken into account as this will influence which size you will choose. Larger flags work well for further distances, whereas smaller flags are more suited to close-up displays.

Text and Typography

Less is more regarding narrow, vertical areas, and designers must carefully consider words as space is limited. Ensure that text is large enough to be read from a distance, and try not to use more than 2-3 different fonts on a single ad. Negative space is vital; it makes the text more readable, directs the eye to certain areas and ensures that a design doesn’t feel cramped or cluttered.

Don’t forget to include contact details or your website address on interior pull up banners for those people who may not get the chance to talk to you in person. In contrast, omit these details on external marketing flags, which will be flapping in the breeze or viewed by speeding motorists.

Colour

Bright, attention-grabbing colours are great but make sure to stick within the guidelines of your brand. Images

Choose your images carefully. All graphics should be high quality with a resolution of at least 300 Dpi, as customers will view most banner ads up close. Check resolution carefully, especially if purchasing elements from stock websites, as these images are often only suited to small physical prints or computer screens.
