Elevate Your Brand with Crafted 3D Signage

Make Your Business Stand Out

Three-dimensional signage commands attention in a way flat print can’t. Depth, shadow, and material presence signal quality before anyone reads a single word.

We design and build 3D signs entirely in-house, laser-cut letters, dimensional logo signs, illuminated channel letters, and custom fabricated pieces built to your brand specification and your site. Because design, fabrication, and installation all sit with one team, we can push the details further and back the result with our Workmanship Guarantee.

If your space needs a sign that works as hard as your brand does, this is where we start.

Designing a 3D Sign

3d Design Considerations

3D signage calls upon an additional set of design skills, and there are many factors to consider.

Sign Location: The location of a 3D sign is significant, and a professional site-check is essential. Location will dictate the design area available, and surface type will influence the colour and materials used and the installation process.

Indoor/Outdoor: Whether to place a sign indoors or outdoors is also a crucial factor. Landlords and local Governments impose more regulations on exterior wall signage, and weatherproof materials are necessary. In contrast, interior 3D signage is often free from additional requirements but is generally viewed up close and designed with a stronger sense of aesthetics.

Viewing Distance: The distance from which one views dimensional signage is also important. This distance determines the size and kerning of the typography and the depth of the engineered letters.

Designs and Plans

Initial designs are generated (or provided by an agent or customer) and will include height length, depth and elevation measurements. An architect, engineer, or skilled surveyor will offer building plans and drawings for large commercial jobs. In addition, we always recommend creating a superimposed image of the approved design on the intended surface.

Designers use vector-based software like Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator to draw up 3D lettering or acrylic welded sign plans. First, they design an accurate, full-size vector shape and export it to the correct file format like EPS, AI or DXF. Then, a laser cutter or CNC router read these files, and the fabrication process begins.

Engineering

Our designers are qualified and experienced; they know which printing techniques work best and what limitations certain materials have. They are also aware of engineering and installation processes and whether or not specialised mounting will need consideration as it can often add to or detract from a sign’s appearance.

We know our stuff; we can design your sign from scratch or are happy to work with your designer or agency to ensure that your sign will work perfectly in 3D.

Creating a 3D Sign

Laser Cut Letters and Forms

Various techniques are used when creating a 3D sign. Generally, basic forms are laser cut from signage materials such as acrylic, MDF or Corflute.

Then, depending on the desired effect and intended substrate, these 3D cut letters and shapes are painted, wrapped in vinyl or left as-is before they are screwed, glued or taped into position.

We can also layer these shapes to increase the dimensional depth or mount them to a wall or backing with stud fixings allowing the sign to float above the wall’s surface.

CNC Routered 3D Signs

The CNC Router is a highly versatile piece of equipment. Materials such as cardboard (if you are looking for a more eco-friendly signage option) and Palite foam (which is not suitable for the Laser machine) can be cut by drag-knife and mounted or constructed into 3D displays. In addition, the router carves 3D logos and forms out of blocks of wood and chisels hollows into thick acrylic panels to produce seamless, hollow shapes.

Engineered Letters

Our fabrication team construct engineered letters from more robust materials like acrylic or metal. And they can produce 3D logos and hollowed-out plastic lettering in several ways.

We create some 3D signs by first cutting flat panels known as the front face, back face and return (sides) on our laser or CNC Router machine. Next, we heat the returns and bend them into shape before taping and welding them together. Finally, the team use specialised acrylic glue to secure plastic panels in place or weld metal elements for rigidity.

Vacuum Formed Signage

For a seamless finish, we have a vacuum form machine at our disposal. First, we produce a three-dimensional shape or letter on the router, which we coat, before inserting it into the vacuum form machine. This machine heats a sheet of plastic and vacuum-forces it over the pre-made 3D logo or letter, then stretches it into shape. Consequently, producing a tough, weather-resistant, seam-free end-product made quickly and cost-effectively.

We have the technology, the tools and the know-how to create your business a distinctive 3D Sign.
