Floor Stickers

Floor stickers are an excellent way to advertise your business both indoors and outdoors. They are available in a wide variety of textures, colours and even 3D effects and you can be as creative as you like.  These specialised floor decals are printed on a more durable vinyl that is scratch and water-resistant and can be washed with industrial cleaners. For this reason, they are ideal for high traffic areas.

BENEFITS AND PLACEMENT

Floor Graphics have one simple purpose, and that is to attract customer attention. Signage is everywhere and finding a solution that stands out from the thousands of posters, billboards and messages can be difficult. Vinyl floor decals are positioned right under your customers’ feet, making them impossible to miss

Custom floor decals are robust and waterproof meaning that they can be used internally or externally. They are also easy to install and clients often apply promotional stickers themselves, making this type of signage extremely cost-effective.

Vinyl floor stickers are best placed in high traffic areas for maximum effect.

Retail clients use directional floor signs to improve shopper experience by guiding customers through the store.  Social distancing floor stickers are now commonplace and custom covid-19 decals can be designed to suit your branding.

Corporate Offices use branded floor graphics to promote brand awareness or as wayfinding in larger buildings. And convention centres use floor signs to promote events and lead attendees to merchandise, food stands or amenities.

With an anti-slip coating, our floor graphics meet NZ health & safety standards.

Designing a Floor Sticker

Floor Stickers Design Considerations

Floor stickers need to be designed with customer branding colours in mind. If digitally printed graphics are used alongside cut vinyl graphics, a designer needs to ensure that colours are matched perfectly.

It helps to know which type of surface the sticker will be used on, as contrasting colours should be chosen to stand out from their background.

Floor graphics need to be proportionate in size to their surrounding area. A tiny floor sticker will get lost in a large space while floor graphics that are too large could make an area look cramped and busy.

Sticker Content

Customers are often moving when viewing floor signage and will therefore not have time to read much text. It is best to keep content short, simple, and to the point.

Shape and View

Incorporating creative shapes associated with the specific business can increase customer interaction (pawprints for a vet business for example).

One also needs to consider the viewing angle of the floor sign. Great effects can be created with elongated shapes and text that are viewed by customers in motion who are positioned slightly further away.  However, stickers that are viewed directly from above, like Covid -19  stickers, are best left with standard proportions.

Creating a Floor Sticker

Substrate

Once a design is finalised,  a nesting layout is used to ensure that there is minimal vinyl wastage. Specialised scratch-resistant vinyl is used when creating floor signage and a laminate is used to make sure it is also slip-resistant.

Ink

Eco-solvent, UV and latex ink can all be used for floor graphics. In most cases, using a laminate means that ink durability isn’t critical, but if your print will be exposed to the elements and constant foot traffic, the ink will need to be tough enough to last.

Alternatively, you can also make floor graphics using cut vinyl graphics.

Installation

  • Remove any dirt, dust and grease from the application area
  • Dry the surface thoroughly to ensure that your floor sticker can adhere firmly.
  • Use a squeegee to apply the vinyl, avoiding any kinks or bubbles.
  • Ensure your vinyl sticks, particularly around the edges

For uneven outdoor surfaces, like concrete, brick or tar, a heat gun can be used with a paint roller instead of a squeegee. This method allows the vinyl to soften slightly and makes it easier to mould around the curves and bumps of the surface.
